8051 Evaluation Boards and 8051 Single Board Computer
An Evaluation Board is a General Purpose board with a micro-controller and generally with a way to download and run user’s program on it. These are very useful as a quick development aid – for example, if you plan to make a micro-controller based product, it can be very convenient to buy and use an off-the-shelf evaluation board like Mini51 , so you can immediately start testing your software on the board. A Single Board Computer (SBC) generally has lot of program memory and data memory, so users can test complex / large applications on it. Also, a SBC generally includes options for number of input and output devices like keyboard, display, serial / parallel port – somewhat similar to a desktop computer, but possibly smaller devices – for example an SBC may use a LCD instead of big CRT screen. SBCs are also quite useful for training, where students can write and run number of applications on the SBC. Our 8051 evaluation boards and Single Board Computers can be used as companion tools for our C compiler for 8051 or as an independent hardware platform suitable for prototype testing, for training or even as an OE board for use in any product. Please note, the LCD and keyboard are NOT supplied with this board, you need to buy those separately. The board only provides interface connector for the LCD and keyboard.
Depending on the selected processor, there are 5 different models of this board:
This board is suitable for testing a wide range of application programs. It provides large amount (64K / 96K / 16K / 62K) of on-chip Code Memory as well as some amount (768 / 7936 / 2048 / 1024 bytes) of on-chip XRAM data memory. Mini51-P9 and Mini51-U offer the advantage of second serial port. Mini51-U offers ultra-high speed. Mini51-A831 offers on-board, high resolution analog I/O. All other models can optionally use SAIO add-on board to get analog I/O. All the code memory can be programmed without removing the chip from the socket, with the convinience of the selector switch(es). Thus this board (in combination with SC51 - our C Compiler for 8051 ) is a complete development tool , and YOU DO NOT NEED A SEPARATE IC PROGRAMMER to work with this board.

Accompanying CD includes PC software (runs on Windows95/98) to download program (Intel HEX format file) into on-chip or on-board program memory. Also includes several example programs, and code size limited evaluation versions of our software development tools such as C Compiler for 8051 .
